Small-shop woodworking notes: hand tools, joinery and finishes. Updated when the glue dries.
A 25° bevel with a 2° microbevel holds up well on pine end grain. Waterstones at 1000 and 6000 grit are enough for most of the work.
Split oak along the grain, then drive it through a steel dowel plate. Offset the holes by about 1.5 mm for a tight joint.
Let the oil cure for a week, then wipe on three thin coats of a 1 lb cut. Rub out with 0000 steel wool and wax.
